Portia (she/her) is an empathetic and thoughtful therapist who works with children, adolescents, and adults. She has experience across university, public health, and private practice settings, supporting individuals with a range of difficulties, including anxiety and mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, suicidal ideation and self-harm, eating disorders and body image concerns. She has a particular interest in working with OCD through the use of exposure and response prevention (ERP), as well as supporting clients with eating disorders through a non-diet, Health at Every Size (HAES)-informed approach.
Portia takes an individualised and person-centred approach to therapy, drawing on each client’s unique experiences, values, and goals to tailor treatment in a way that is both relevant and effective. She works at a pace that feels manageable for each person, while gently supporting movement towards meaningful change. She works with clients to identify and shift patterns that may be maintaining distress, while building practical, sustainable strategies for change. Her approach is flexible, collaborative, and grounded in creating a space that feels safe, attuned, and non-judgmental.
Her work is primarily informed by cognitive behavioural therapy, with integration of acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy. She practices in a manner that is trauma-informed and LGBTQIA+-affirming and is committed to providing inclusive and evidence-based care.
Portia is a registered psychologist currently undertaking her clinical psychology registrar program. She completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of Sydney and her Master of Clinical Psychology at the Australian National University. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
