Matthew’s therapeutic style is characterised by his warmth, insight, and ability to recognise the way life experiences impact on our psychology. Various psychological principles and treatment styles are integrated to address a range of psychological difficulties, promote understanding, empowered action, and wellbeing. This framework is helpful in addressing the diversity and potential complexity of client challenges.
In addition to his therapeutic work, Matthew seeks to improve the understanding and treatment of re-occurring and distressing thoughts and associated behaviours seen in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). He has built additional expertise in this area through research completed at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and work in the private sector. Consequently, he has delivered seminars on OCD, and provides consulting services to practicing clinical psychologists.
Matthew has past experience in both the public and private sector, having practiced at Cumberland Hospital and Gordon Inpatient Unit, prior to commencing his role at Southside Health and Wellbeing.
He holds an Honours degree in Psychological Science from The University of New South Wales and a Master of Psychology (Clinical) from The University of New South Wales. He is a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA) and registered to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).
