Emotion Regulation Skills Group Program

Emotion Wellness Group Program

Southside’s Emotional Wellness Program offers you the opportunity to learn a range of helpful skills to enhance your emotional well-being, in a warm and supportive group environment.

Led by two experienced Clinical Psychologists, group sessions encourage shared learning, discussion and practice of skills proven to help navigate our most challenging emotions and increase our experience of positive emotions.

The Emotional Wellness Program is based on Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). DBT is a well-regarded, evidence-based therapy, which increases understanding and skill in managing emotions and behaviour. DBT can be very helpful if you live with anxiety, depression and other emotional difficulties.

In our groups, clients learn to:

  • Understand and respond more effectively to intense or distressing emotions,
  • Gain a greater sense of control over their emotional responses,
  • Increase their experience of positive emotions,
  • Feel more present and connected in their lives,
  • Increase self-understanding and self-compassion, and
  • Feel empowered to navigate challenging situations with calm and resilience

The groups offer a valuable addition to one-on-one therapy by teaching an extensive range of helpful skills, including mindfulness, cognitive and behavioural skills and strategies specifically for managing crises or overwhelming emotions.

The Emotional Wellness group program involves 8 face-to-face group sessions that will be run over 8 consecutive weeks.
