JAMES MORANDINI is a clinical psychologist who holds a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from The University of Sydney. In addition to clinical practice he works as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in the School of Psychology at The University of Sydney, researching sexual orientation, sexual/gender identity development, and mental health in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender populations.
James has experience working with adults, adolescents, and children in community health and hospital settings, in individual and group formats. His experience includes assessment and treatment of adult anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, and emotion regulation difficulties, as well as child and adolescent anxiety, depression, and behavioural issues. James has clinical and research expertise in sexuality and gender issues and is a member of the Diverse Bodies, Genders, and Sexualities Interest Group of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the International Academy of Sex Research (IASR).
James takes a respectful, warm, and collaborative approach to therapy, and seeks to build understanding of the needs and goals of his clients. He integrates and draws on evidence based treatments, namely, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and attachment based-approaches.
