Cultivating Calm in 2010.
WHAT: Cultivating Calm is a 12 session skills based program for adults who wish to cultivate ongoing practices of calm and relaxation in their lives, and who wish to develop the capacity to respond to life with mindful choices rather than remaining in habitual or reactive patterns. This includes cultivating the ability to endure unpleasant or difficult experiences, thereby increasing resiliency. The group is being run by Katy Vidler, Clinical Psychologist.
WHO: The program would suit any adult with a commitment to regularly practicing the skills over the course of the program, with a view to extending the skills to life beyond the beyond the program, as a lifestyle practice. This includes people experiencing anxiety, stress, concentration difficulties, impulsive or reactive behavioural patterns, or those who wish to prevent depression relapse.
WHERE: Southside Health and Wellbeing, 12 The Avenue, Hurstville, 2220.
WHEN: Sessions are 80 minutes duration and will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 to 7.50 pm. The group will begin with weekly sessions then move to fortnightly sessions, with breaks during school holidays. The first session is on 2/2/2010.
SPECIFIC DATES for 2010: 2/2, 9/2, 16/2 (move to fortnightly sessions) 2/3, 16/3, 30/3 (break for school holidays) 20/4, 4/5, 18/5, 2/6, 15/6, 29/6.
FINANCIAL INVESTMENT: $58.00 per 80 minute session. A non-refundable payment for the first 6 sessions is due prior to the first session, a total of $348.00. A second non-refundable payment of $348.00 for the second six sessions is due prior to the 7th session. Payment may be made by cash, cheque or Eftpos at reception.
MEDICARE REBATE: For those referred to the group program under Medicare by their GP, a rebate of at least $29.20 is available for all attended sessions, resulting in an out of pocket expense of $28.80 per session. Please note, there may be a slight increase in the Medicare rebate by 2010. Medicare do not rebate sessions that are not attended. Your GP will need to supply a brief letter of referral to the group program, and you will need to return to your GP after 6 group sessions to obtain ongoing referral under Medicare for the second six sessions. If you already have a referral for individual sessions under Medicare, you are also eligible for up to 12 group therapy sessions at the same time.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE MEDICARE REBATE? People with a formal diagnosis made by their GP. Examples include but are not limited to: anxiety, depression and adjustment disorder.
PRIVATE HEALTH REBATES: For those not referred under Medicare, a refund may be possible through your private health insurer, depending on your cover. Please contact your insurer for further details.
RECEIPTING METHODS: Due to the attendance requirements of Medicare, a general receipt will be supplied at the time of the initial payment. This will not be able to be used to claim the Medicare Rebate. Medicare specific receipts will be supplied at each attended session.
REGISTRATION: Due to room size, places are limited and therefore secured once payment has been received. If you would like to register for the group, please do so in person at reception or call Southside Health and Wellbeing on 9579 2480.
