Cultivating Calm Group
A group for adults seeking a calm, focussed mind and a relaxed body.
Beginning Thursday April 26th, 2012
WHAT: Cultivating Calm is a 6 session skills based program for adults who wish to cultivate ongoing practices of relaxation and mindfulness meditation in their lives, and who wish to develop the capacity to respond to life with mindful choices rather than remain in habitual or reactive patterns. This includes cultivating the ability to endure unpleasant or difficult experiences, thereby increasing resiliency. A range of relaxation skills and mindfulness skills will be taught and practiced each session. The group is run by Katy Vidler, Senior Clinical Psychologist.
WHO: The program would suit any adult who would like to learn ways to relax their body and mind, and increase their focus and concentration, in spite of the external stressors that may be at play in life, and in spite of the automatic habits of our minds, such as habitual worry, negative thinking or excessive “planning mind”. The program is structured so that participants can independently use the skills once the group has completed. A commitment to regularly practicing the skills over the course of the program, and practicing after the program, will ensure the best benefit from the group. The group is particularly helpful for people experiencing busy minds, muscle tension, anxiety, stress, concentration difficulties, reactivity and impulsivity, or those who wish to prevent depression relapse.
